Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erchiuman says community will not be swayed by games
Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erchiuman posted on the MKD platform asserting that the Turkish Cypriot community will not be affected by “games or challenges.” He pledged to continue informing the public “in the right way and in a timely manner” and to never compromise on seriousness, patience, composure and determination.
Erchiuman referenced the ongoing debate sparked by a Greek‑Cypriot journalist’s article, noting concerns that leaked information could convey false messages intended to calm Greek Cypriots and alarm Turkish Cypriots. He emphasized that the community possesses “enough intelligence, experience and knowledge to understand who is trying to do what,” and will monitor discussions closely while maintaining the established negotiation methodology.
The statement underscored a refusal to become a “victim of games,” asserting that the leadership will stay the course and keep the public assured.
