Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhürman urges sincere approach to resolve Cyprus property dispute

Turkish Cypriot President Tufan Erhürman said the island’s property issue cannot be settled through lawsuits by Greek Cypriots against Turkish Cypriots or vice‑versa, describing the dispute as part of a broader political problem. He stressed that the loss affects both communities and that a solution requires genuine sincerity. Erhürman reaffirmed the north’s commitment to a comprehensive settlement, noting the Immovable Property Commission’s role in offering restitution, exchange and compensation while a final agreement is reached. He condemned attempts to use the law as a political tool and pledged continued support for United Nations Secretary‑General Antonio Guterres’s efforts.
