Turkish dairy products rank in top three of TasteAtlas global list
The international gastronomy platform TasteAtlas has released its ranking of the world’s best dairy products, featuring two entries from Türkiye in the top three. Irish butter secured the first position with 4.5 points, followed by Trabzon butter and Turkish kaymak, both earning 4.4 points.
TasteAtlas described kaymak as a “traditional Turkish dairy product,” noting that while cow, goat, and sheep milk are used, the highest quality versions are believed to be made from buffalo milk due to its higher fat content and darker consistency.
The recognition of kaymak has been met with pride in Afyonkarahisar, a major production center for geographically indicated buffalo kaymak. Local experts noted that the traditional production methods and the specific diet of the buffaloes contribute to the product's distinct flavor and quality.
