Turkish municipalities launch summer cultural and sports programs for children

Municipalities across Turkey are running free summer activities aimed at children and youths. In Elazığ, the local government continues its traditional "Yaz Etkinlikleri" with evening concerts, folk and pop performances at Kültür Park until the end of July. Kırıkkale’s Youth and Sports Directorate organised a summer sports school offering judo, volleyball, dart and gymnastics training, complete with gifted T‑shirts for participants. Afyonkarahisar’s Mimal Afyon High School started a "No Child Left Out of Sports" project, providing free basketball, volleyball and football sessions for disadvantaged students and establishing a youth sports club. Istanbul’s Beylikdüzü district hosts daily art‑in‑life workshops, puppet shows and music drama for kids in Yaşam Vadisi until late August. İzmir’s Metropolitan Municipality runs a "Neighbourhood Festival" across 23 locations, featuring child‑focused workshops, sports zones, concerts and street entertainment. Bursa’s Osmangazi district held a recycling‑art workshop where children turned waste into designs, while the Göynükbelen Youth Camp offered nature, sport and cultural activities for dozens of teenagers. Denizli’s summer camp combined nature walks, art sessions and environmental education for forty high‑schoolers. Across these programmes, officials stress social inclusion, health, cultural enrichment and environmental awareness, aiming to keep young people productively engaged during the holiday season.
