Turkish export unions expand pesticide‑packaging recycling network in Aydın province
The Ege Tobacco Exporters' Association (EIB) has continued its "Zirai İlaç Ambalaj Atıklarının Bertarafı/Geri Dönüşümü Projesi" for four years, establishing collection stations for empty agricultural pesticide containers in the districts of Acıpayam, Beyağaç, Kale, Tavas, Karacasu and Salihli. The network now includes 48 points and, by the end of 2025, will be joined by the Ege Dry Fruit and Olive Oil Exporters' Unions, adding seven more stations in Manisa.
In the nearby Didim district, the local Agriculture and Forestry Directorate is urging farmers to bring in pesticide packaging instead of discarding it, offering a promotional liquid fertilizer in return. The initiative aims to prevent environmental contamination and ensure safe disposal of the collected waste at licensed facilities.
