Turkish families demand tougher penalties after deadly motorcycle crashes

A motorcycle accident in Kepez, Antalya on 15:00 resulted in the death of 44‑year‑old Sevilay Aytış, who was transporting her children. After colliding with an unknown vehicle, she lost control, was dragged and struck a parked car. Emergency services transported her to a hospital where she later died from lung damage and internal bleeding. Her body was transferred to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute before burial at Duacı Cemetery.

In a separate case in Ankara, the family of Emrullah Kılıç, a motor‑courier killed in a crash with a light commercial vehicle a year earlier, is protesting a 76,000 TL criminal fine imposed on the driver, Ahmet Yıldız. The family argues that the driver was 100 % at fault and that the penalty treats a life as a monetary value. They plan to appeal, accusing the courts of applying “conscious negligence” standards instead of appropriate sanctions.
