Turkey investment returns: Deposit interest leads monthly gains

Data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) regarding July 2026 shows that gross deposit interest rates provided the highest monthly real return, yielding 1.29% when adjusted for the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

In contrast, gold bullion experienced the highest real losses in the monthly, three-month, and six-month periods. However, on an annual basis, gold bullion emerged as the top performer, providing a real return of 8.05% when adjusted for CPI.

Following recent Central Bank decisions, competition among banks for deposits has intensified, with interest rates ranging between 36% and 47%. For an investor with 2 million TL, a 32-day term could yield a net gain of over 60,000 TL.

Additionally, economic forecasts for January 2027 suggest potential pension increases between 7% and 10.67% based on inflation trends. Meanwhile, a public debt restructuring process for taxes, social security premiums, and motor vehicle taxes remains open until August 31, 2026, offering installment options of up to 72 months.
