Turkish fishing vessel attacked in the Black Sea, one sailor killed

A Turkish‑flagged fishing boat, the Duru 67, was struck and sank west of Sevastopol in the Black Sea. The assault left one crew member dead and four others wounded. The surviving sailors were rescued by another trawler, the Burak Kaya, which later transferred the injured to a Turkish Coast Guard ship for treatment.

The injured were taken to a hospital in Kastamonu, Turkey, where officials said the wounds were caused by shrapnel, with two patients sustaining relatively minor injuries and two more serious injuries. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurs amid frequent attacks on Black Sea shipping linked to the Russia‑Ukraine war.
