Turkish fishing vessel Duru 67 sinks after Black Sea attack near Sevastopol, one crew member killed

A Turkish fishing boat, the DURU 67, was struck in the Black Sea close to the Crimean port of Sevastopol and subsequently sank. The attack left one crew member dead and four others wounded by shrapnel. Turkish coast‑guard units and a nearby Turkish trawler, the BURAK KAYA, carried out a rescue operation, retrieving the injured and transporting them to a hospital in Kastamonu; one of the wounded died en route.

Turkish authorities have not identified the attacker, and the incident adds to a series of recent maritime security incidents in the Black Sea region linked to the ongoing Russia‑Ukraine conflict. The coast‑guard reported receiving the distress call around 23:00 and dispatched a rescue vessel from the Inebolu area, highlighting the continued risk to commercial and fishing vessels operating in these waters.
