Turkish FM Hakan Fidan criticises media after Kiev visit

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan travelled to Kyiv, where he appeared in public without security concerns. Journalist Erkam Tufan Aytav condemned the state‑aligned media for presenting the visit as a staged “body‑show” while highlighting that Fidan could not produce comparable footage from Gaza, noting “Kiev’de Rusya var, Gazze’de İsrail var.”

After the Kyiv trip, Fidan answered questions from reporters on board his flight and revealed he has been watching the alternate‑history series “Star City,” which imagines a world where the Soviet Union reached the Moon first. He described the show as a “strategic exercise” for thinking about geopolitics.

Both remarks sparked discussion about the minister’s public messaging and the contrast between Turkey’s diplomatic engagements in Ukraine and its stance on the Gaza conflict.
