Turkish Gendarmerie Carries Out Traffic Fines in Yozgat and Arrests in Çanakkale

In Yozgat Province, traffic units of the Turkish Gendarmerie conducted extensive checks on motorcycles, ATVs, tractors and combine harvesters. Drivers without proper registration or licences were penalised, including an 86,000 TL fine and confiscation of an unregistered motorcycle in Sarıkaya, and a 40,000 TL fine for an unlicensed driver in Şefaatlı. Gendarmerie officers also delivered safety briefings to agricultural‑vehicle operators, urging compliance with registration, fire‑extinguisher and reflector rules.

Separately, the Çanakkale Gendarmerie carried out a "Huzur Uygulaması" from 12‑19 July, inspecting hundreds of businesses, abandoned buildings and public spaces. Identity checks were performed on 58,698 persons and 57,358 vehicles were examined. The operation resulted in the detention of 88 individuals, of whom 14 were sentenced to prison for offences ranging from illegal archaeological digging and drug trafficking to fraud and armed threats.
