TMO conducts large-scale grain and raisin procurement in Turkey

The Turkish Soil Products Office (TMO) has announced significant procurement activities for the 2026 season, focusing on grains and dried raisins. In Konya, the TMO has completed the purchase of approximately 2 million tons of grain across 92 different locations, utilizing a digital appointment system to manage the high harvest volume. Following grain procurement, the agency has begun purchasing poppy seeds and is preparing for green lentil acquisitions.

Regarding the grain market, TMO reported record production levels for wheat and barley, leading to a strong supply. The agency has also begun selling products from its strong stocks to ensure market balance, including low-quality wheat and barley for the animal feed market. Corn harvesting is underway, with approximately 20% of the national harvest completed.

In the raisin sector, TMO set dried raisin purchase prices between 85 TL and 100 TL per kilogram, depending on the grade. While some producers in Manisa's Alaşehir district welcomed these prices as a relief compared to lower private trader offers, others expressed concerns. Local officials and political figures criticized the announcement for failing to specify the total volume of raisins the TMO intends to purchase, leaving producers uncertain about market stability despite the higher price points.
