Turkish Grain Board to begin hazelnut purchases on August 24

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) has announced that hazelnut purchases for the 2026-2027 season will commence on August 24, 2026. The procurement process will initially take place at 16 locations, with the potential to expand to 61 points depending on harvest conditions.

Purchase prices based on a 50 percent sound kernel rate have been set as follows: 255 lira per kilogram for Giresun quality, 250 lira for Levant quality, and 245 lira for Sivri quality. For every increase in yield above 50 percent, additional prices will be applied: 5.10 lira for Giresun, 5 lira for Levant, and 4.90 lira for Sivri quality.

Deliveries must be scheduled via an appointment system, which becomes active on August 17, 2026. Producers can book appointments through the TMO website, e-Devlet, or in person at TMO business locations. Payments will be deposited into producers' bank accounts starting 21 days after product delivery.

To qualify for purchase, hazelnuts must meet specific technical standards, including a moisture content of 6.5 percent or lower and a sound kernel rate of at least 40 percent. TMO specified that mixtures of old and new year crops will not be accepted.
