Turkish hazelnut prices show gap between TMO and free market
Hazelnut producers in Turkey are closely monitoring market fluctuations following the 2026 harvest. A significant price gap has emerged between the free market rates and the official purchase prices set by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO).
For the 2026-2027 season, the TMO established purchase prices of 255 TL/kg for Giresun quality and 250 TL/kg for Levant quality hazelnuts. In contrast, free market prices in various regions are trading significantly lower. In Samsun, Levant quality hazelnuts are priced around 180 TL/kg, while in Giresun, 50-yield hazelnuts are at 185 TL/kg. Other regional prices include 180 TL/kg in Ordu, 175.50 TL/kg in Trabzon, and between 180-185 TL/kg in Western Black Sea provinces such as Düzce, Sakarya, and Zonguldak.
Due to this disparity, many producers are evaluating whether to sell to the TMO, which offers higher base prices and additional payments for higher yields, or to wait for shifts in the free market.
