Turkish heritage highlighted at Konya and Mersin cultural festivals
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism's Konya Culture Road Festival entered its third day with a wide program of exhibitions, workshops, and family activities. A featured exhibition, “Osmanlı'nın Mukaddes Emanetleri,” displayed sacred relics such as the Kaaba veil, the Sakal‑ı Şerif, a Qur'an, and Selim I and Suleiman era coins drawn from Istanbul’s museum collections. Visitors also practiced the traditional Ebru art in a hands‑on workshop and enjoyed a children’s village with inflatable games, digital stations, Karagöz performances and a VR balloon tour. The festival runs through 26 July.
In Mersin, the “Köy Bizim, Şenlik Bizim” programme spread cultural and artistic activities to villages and neighbourhoods. Children took part in face‑painting, creative workshops, traditional games, dance shows and puzzle activities organized by the municipal Cultural, Art and Social Services Directorate together with the Women and Family Services Directorate. The events, aimed at families, will continue throughout the summer across multiple rural locations.
Both festivals emphasize the preservation and public presentation of Turkish cultural heritage and provide interactive experiences for all ages.
