Turkey to compete in International Nuclear Science Olympiad in Saudi Arabia

Turkey will take part for the first time as a competitor in the International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO‑2026) scheduled for 2‑9 August 2026 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The national team, composed of students from Istanbul Özel Bahçeşehir Fen ve Teknoloji Lisesi, was selected after a nationwide competition that attracted 30 schools. The students completed an intensive two‑day training program in Ankara, including practical sessions at the Nuclear Energy Research Institute of the Turkey Energy, Nuclear and Mineral Research Agency (TENMAK). They were prepared on topics such as atomic structure, nuclear physics, radiation safety and applications, with the goal of winning medals. Team members Ömer Akan and Mert Andaç Kara expressed pride and excitement about representing Turkey and aiming for podium finishes.
