Turkish Insurance Association targets fraud and announces Insurance Week
The Turkish Insurance Association (TSB) is addressing critical issues within the insurance sector, including the fight against illegal damage gangs and the upcoming 15th Insurance Week. TSB Board Member Neslihan Neciboğlu highlighted new reforms implemented in cooperation with SEDDK to prevent unfair gains. These include the ‘Smart Expert System’ for neutral appointments and the ‘Alo 193’ Joint Damage Reporting Line, which launched on September 1 to help citizens connect directly with insurance companies.
TSB General Secretary Özgür Obalı reported that fraudulent activities have caused an estimated financial burden of $400 million to $500 million over the last three years, which directly increases insurance premiums for citizens.
Additionally, the 15th Insurance Week will take place across Turkey from October 5–11. Under the theme ‘Four Elements. One Guarantee,’ the event will feature discussions on climate risks, disasters, and urban resilience in cities such as Ankara, Istanbul, Malatya, and Gaziantep. The week includes various summits and award ceremonies aimed at increasing public awareness of insurance as a mechanism for social and economic continuity.
