Turkish Interior Minister discusses social assistance efficiency

Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş held a meeting at the Security and Emergency Situations Coordination Center (GAMER) to discuss the ‘Provincial and District Foundations Performance Report Card’. The meeting included 81 provincial governors and directors of Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV) via video conference to improve the efficiency of social assistance activities.

Minister Çiftçi emphasized that identifying the needs of citizens in a timely and accurate manner is a primary responsibility of the state. He noted that based on his previous work in Erzurum, several foundations achieved top-ten rankings nationally, and he urged all governors to closely monitor their foundations' performance report cards.

To encourage efficiency, the government plans to implement a reward mechanism for foundations that rank in the top ten. Additionally, Çiftçi highlighted the importance of continuous household visits to identify vulnerable citizens, stating that data collected from these visits will be used to provide assistance to those in weak or very weak financial situations within three months.
