Turkish government social assistance coordination

Turkish Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş met with 81 provincial governors to discuss the efficiency of social assistance and volunteerism.

A central component of the discussions involved the ‘Provincial and District Foundations Performance Report Card’. Minister Çiftçi instructed governors to monitor these reports closely, noting that the state has a responsibility to proactively identify and meet citizen needs. To incentivize efficiency, the government intends to implement a reward mechanism for foundations that achieve top-ten national rankings.

Further measures discussed include the use of continuous household visits to identify vulnerable citizens. Data from these visits will be utilized to provide assistance to individuals in weak or very weak financial situations within a three-month period. Additionally, officials addressed the ‘İyilik Var’ Volunteering Platform, focusing on improving coordination and integrating the platform with local administrations to strengthen social solidarity.
