İzmir celebrates 104th anniversary of liberation with ceremonies and festivals
Various events and commemorations are taking place in Turkey to mark the 104th anniversary of the liberation of İzmir. Official ceremonies include flag-raising ceremonies at the İzmir Governor's Office and the Government House, featuring reenactments by cavalry units. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay and other officials participated in receptions and marches to honor the independence struggle led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
In addition to historical commemorations, the 95th İzmir International Fair is currently being held at Kültürpark, aiming to attract 1 million visitors through a program of trade, culture, and entertainment, including concerts and theater. Simultaneously, the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK) is hosting an aviation festival in Selçuk, İzmir, featuring parachute activities, aerobatic flights, and flight simulators to promote aviation culture to new generations.
