Turkish leaders promote ‘Terörsüz Türkiye’ and curriculum reforms

Turkish political leaders have emphasized the ‘Terörsüz Türkiye’ (Terror-free Turkey) initiative, framing it as a vital process for national strength and security. AK Party Deputy Chairman Hayati Yazıcı stated in Erzurum that the ongoing legislative and regulatory processes are being conducted with extreme sensitivity toward martyrs and veterans, ensuring that no actions will offend their memory.

Yusuf Tekin, the Minister of National Education, also addressed the initiative during a school opening ceremony in Yalova. He announced that schools will implement awareness training on topics such as human rights, patriotism, and solidarity to support the goal of a terror-free nation.

Additionally, Minister Tekin detailed recent changes to the national education curriculum. He explained that the curriculum has been streamlined to remove unnecessary content and updated to better reflect national and spiritual values. This includes reclassifying historical terms, such as changing ‘Crusades’ to ‘Crusader Attacks’ and addressing the colonial nature of ‘Geographical Discoveries,’ to provide students with a more accurate historical perspective.
