Turkish man faces 97 lawsuits after bank accounts used in fraud scheme
Nejat Yazıcı, a 30-year-old man in Turkey, is facing 97 legal cases after his bank accounts were used in a large-scale fraud scheme. In 2022, Yazıcı was approached via social media by individuals promising e-commerce opportunities. Due to personal debts, he agreed to hand over his bank accounts in Istanbul.
After failing to receive the promised payments, Yazıcı attempted to close his accounts. However, he later discovered his accounts had been frozen due to fraud investigations. Yazıcı reported that the perpetrators managed to defraud dozens of people within just 17 days.
As a result of the legal proceedings, Yazıcı spent approximately 30 months in prison. He stated that his family helped compensate victims, totaling approximately 4 million lira in expenses. He is currently navigating ongoing legal battles, noting that while some cases have resulted in dismissals or reversals, many others remain active.
