Turkish miners protest unpaid severance at Yildizlar SSS Holding

Workers employed by Doruk Madencilik, members of the Turkey Mining Workers Union, began a sit‑in protest in front of Yıldızlar SSS Holding in Ankara after the company failed to pay severance and other legal entitlements promised in a protocol signed with the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Energy. The union’s Central Anatolia branch head, Talih Kocabıyık, said payments were pledged for 23 July but none had been made by 27 July, prompting the workers to vow to remain at the site until the sums are transferred to their accounts.

The demonstrators also plan to stage actions in front of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, stating they will not leave Ankara until the promised payments are received. Their slogans include “We will not leave until our dues are transferred” and “No return, only death," highlighting the depth of their grievance.
