Turkey Doruk Madencilik labor dispute

In late July 2026, workers of Doruk Madencilik, represented by the Turkey Mining Workers Union, began a sit‑in protest in front of Yıldızlar SSS Holding in Ankara after the company failed to pay severance and other entitlements promised in a protocol with the ministries. The demonstrators vowed to remain until the sums were transferred and announced plans to stage actions at the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Energy.

By early August, the dispute moved into the political arena. MP Vedat Bilgin, chair of the parliamentary Health, Family, Labor and Social Affairs Commission, met the striking workers and union leader inside the Grand National Assembly. He condemned the employer’s actions as unconstitutional, announced he would file a criminal complaint, and called on prosecutors to open an investigation into the alleged illegal conduct.

The situation thus progressed from a grassroots sit‑in protest to formal parliamentary intervention and the prospect of legal action against Doruk Madencilik.
