Turkish Ministry of Health reaches 12 million people via literacy plan
The Turkish Ministry of Health announced that its National Health Literacy Action Plan (2025-2028) has reached over 12.1 million people across 81 provinces. Through seminars, educational activities, and field information campaigns in locations such as schools, health centers, and community hubs, the initiative aims to improve access to reliable health information and combat disinformation.
As part of Public Health Week, the ministry is emphasizing vaccination. The National Vaccination Schedule is being updated based on scientific developments; notably, as of April 2025, the Tdab vaccine—containing tetanus toxoid, diphtheria toxoid, and acellular pertussis components—has been introduced for pregnant women. Additionally, the routine childhood immunization program has transitioned from a five-component to a six-component combined vaccine to protect against 13 different diseases.
