Turkish Ministry of National Defense addresses PKK surrenders and EU criticism

The Turkish Ministry of National Defense (MSB) held its weekly press briefing, where spokesperson Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk announced that two PKK terrorists surrendered during the week as part of ongoing security operations.

Aktürk also addressed a recent recommendation by the European Parliament's Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality to allocate funds for a monument project targeting the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). The Ministry strongly rejected the proposal, labeling it a biased attempt to distort historical facts regarding the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation. The MSB called on the European Union and its institutions to maintain a neutral stance and recognize the historical context of systematic attacks against Turkish Cypriots by EOKA between 1963 and 1974.

Additionally, the briefing highlighted the NATO Communications Conference hosted by the Multinational Joint Warfare Centre from September 7-10. The event brought together 542 communication experts from 42 countries to discuss strategic communication, combating disinformation, and enhancing interoperability among allies.
