Turkish municipalities accelerate park and green‑area cleaning before summer

Gümüşhane Municipality intensified mowing, weed removal, tree pruning and the safe removal of hazardous trees across parks, medians, intersections, main roads and rural routes. Officials said recent heavy rains spurred rapid grass growth, prompting the use of modern equipment to speed up work. "This year’s above‑normal rainfall caused rapid grass growth, and our teams are working long hours to keep parks and streets clean," said Mayor Vedat Soner Başer.

Silivri Municipality similarly stepped up mowing, weed control, pesticide application and repair works in neighborhoods, children’s parks, sports fields and streets, employing tractors, minibikes and other machines. Both local governments aim to provide cleaner, safer and more aesthetic public spaces for residents ahead of the summer season.
