Turkish municipalities celebrate 200 years of Municipal Police

Municipalities in Turkey held various events to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the Zabıta (Municipal Police) organization.

In Kuşadası, Deputy Mayor Tahsin Demirtaş met with municipal police personnel for a breakfast gathering. Demirtaş praised the staff for their role as the visible face of the municipality and their efforts in maintaining public peace and security within the city.

In Bilecik, the municipality organized a vehicle convoy and an information program in the city center. The celebrations included a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk monument and the distribution of brochures detailing the duties and authorities of municipal police officers. Mayor Melek Mızrak Subaşı emphasized that the role of the municipal police extends beyond enforcement to include mediating disputes and protecting shared urban spaces for the benefit of all citizens.
