Turkish municipalities celebrate 312th anniversary of fire service

Turkish municipalities are observing Firefighters Week and celebrating the 312th anniversary of the fire service establishment through various commemorative events.

In Kars, the Kars Municipality Fire Department organized programs to educate children on fire safety and emergency procedures. Students participated in activities where they inspected firefighting vehicles and equipment while learning how to act safely during a fire. Mayor Prof. Dr. Ötüken Senger attended the event, which highlighted the long-standing history of the department in protecting lives and property.

In Kocaeli, Metropolitan Municipality Secretary General Dr. Hayri Baraçlı visited the Yahya Kaptan Fire Station to thank personnel for their service in managing fires, accidents, and disasters. Baraçlı announced a strategic plan aimed at making Kocaeli the top fire service in Turkey, which includes increasing the number of vehicle units and establishing new stations in Kartepe and Körfez. He also noted that an action plan is being developed for maritime fire intervention and emphasized the goal of achieving zero accidents and zero fires.
