Tahtani Mosque reopens in Gaziantep after earthquake restoration
Various cultural and social initiatives are being conducted across several Turkish provinces. In Gaziantep, the 16th-century Tahtani Mosque has officially reopened for worship following extensive restoration by the General Directorate of Foundations. The project addressed heavy damage caused by the February 2023 earthquakes through structural reinforcement, minaret reconstruction using original stones, and modern electrical upgrades.
In Kahramanmaraş, the municipality is hosting cultural events at the restored Kahramanmaraş Castle, including art exhibitions and folk music performances. Additionally, new educational projects titled ‘EŞİK’ and ‘Gençler Kürsüde’ have been launched in collaboration with the Dulkadiroğlu Municipality to support the academic and oratorical development of high school students.
Other regional updates include the opening of a new geriatric service building at the Zübeyde Hanım Nursing Home in İzmir to increase care capacity for the elderly. In Kırıkkale, a photography exhibition titled ‘Gizem Dolu Anadolu’ was opened to showcase the country's historical and natural heritage. Meanwhile, in Karatay, restoration work is underway on six historical mosques, and Balıkesir is preparing for the 10th World Balıkesir Day celebrations with various festivals and transport services for residents living in neighboring cities.
