Turkish municipalities hold Firefighters Week awareness events

Municipalities in Turkey celebrated Firefighters Week with various awareness and educational programs aimed at students.

In Yüksekova, the Fire Department concluded its week-long activities by hosting high school students. Fire Chief Mikail Akbaş noted that teams visited approximately 15 schools to conduct fire drills and provide vital information. Akbaş emphasized that the department's role extends beyond firefighting to include responding to accidents, animal rescues, earthquakes, floods, and collapses. He also highlighted a high frequency of traffic accidents in the district, urging public caution.

In Kırıkkale, the Fire Department conducted similar outreach by visiting kindergartens and primary schools, as well as hosting students at their station. The program focused on teaching children how to act during a fire, smoke evacuation rules, and the importance of not misusing the 112 Emergency Call Center. Students were introduced to firefighting equipment, including ladder systems, protective clothing, and fire extinguishers, through interactive demonstrations.
