Turkish municipalities launch first aid awareness initiatives
In observance of World First Aid Day, Turkish municipalities in Ankara and Manisa have launched initiatives to increase public emergency response capabilities.
In Ankara, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality conducted a practical first aid drill at the Kızılay 15 Temmuz Milli İrade Metro Station. The simulation included scenarios such as responding to a heart attack and managing a choking victim. As part of a broader safety plan, the municipality is working to install Automated External Defibrillators (AED) in high-traffic areas and metro stations. Additionally, the municipality offers free certified first aid training to residents.
In Manisa, the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality distributed first aid kits to all neighborhood mukhtars (local community heads) throughout the province. This project aims to ensure that local leaders can provide rapid and correct assistance in emergencies before professional medical teams arrive on the scene. Officials conducted field visits to provide instruction on the contents and proper use of the kits.
