Turkish municipalities launch summer events and guidance for children

The Selçuklu district of Konya hosted the "Yaza Merhaba Karne Şenliği" on 27‑28 June at Kelebekler Vadisi Park. The two‑day festival drew 198,317 participants and offered inflatable games, workshops, concerts by local choirs, and other activities aimed at giving schoolchildren a festive start to the summer holidays. Mayor Ahmet Pekyatırmacı praised the event as an opportunity for youth to express themselves through sports, arts and culture.

Separately, the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality released a summer‑time guide for families, urging parents to combine recreation with educational and social development. Recommendations include enrolling children in short courses, maintaining regular reading habits, spending time outdoors, and using available psychological counselling services at centres in Demetevler, Ulus and Mamak.

Both initiatives emphasize the role of local authorities in supporting children’s physical, academic and emotional well‑being during the school break.
