Turkey's municipalities open free summer sports schools for children
Municipalities across Turkey have begun registering children for free summer sport programs. In Kahramanmaraş, the Youth and Sports Directorate launched GSB Sports Schools for ages 5‑18, offering over 20 branches such as athletics, basketball, swimming and judo, with registrations via e‑Devlet or local offices. Istanbul’s Ataşehir district announced free summer sport education starting 22‑23 June, covering fitness, yoga, pilates for adults and football, volleyball, tennis, taekwondo and swimming for children aged 7‑14, with two‑sport selections per participant. Marmaris municipality opened enrolment on 15 June for 6‑14‑year‑olds, providing 17 branches including chess, gymnastics, dance, water polo and various team sports, running from 29 June to 26 August. In Ankara’s Sincan district, a swimming course for children opened registration through 26 June, emphasizing safety and skill development. Fatih district in Istanbul began its Yaz Spor Okulları, targeting 4‑14‑year‑olds with 21 sport branches such as basketball, archery, badminton and swimming, scheduled from 29 June to 29 August. All programs are free, aim to promote physical health, social development and active summer experiences for youth, and require online or on‑site registration.
