Turkish municipalities promote stray animal adoption

Municipalities in Turkey are conducting initiatives to promote the adoption of stray and disabled animals.

In Beşiktaş, the municipality's disabled cat unit facilitates adoptions to improve the living conditions of street animals. Manifest group member Esin Bahat recently visited the facility and adopted a disabled kitten named Lili. Local officials have encouraged citizens to visit the shelter or use the municipality's online platform to find pets rather than purchasing them.

Similarly, Altıeylül Municipality is organizing an event titled ‘Adopt, Share Your Love’ at Asuva Park. The initiative, led by the Minik Patiler Animal Shelter and Natural Living Area, aims to bring animals in need of homes into contact with potential owners. Veterinary Services Manager Ömer Güçlü emphasized that the goal is to raise awareness about the responsibilities of pet ownership and to help animals become part of families.
