Turkish municipalities ramp up mosquito and pest control as summer begins

Seferihisar municipality in western Turkey intensified its summer pest‑control programme, conducting regular insecticide spraying across streets, parks, drainage channels and waste‑container areas. The effort targets mosquito breeding sites and uses products that are safe for human health and the environment. Mayor İsmail Yetişkin said the actions aim to provide residents and visitors with a cleaner, healthier environment and that citizen reports are also incorporated into the spraying schedule.

In Ankara’s Keçiören district, local authorities carried out extensive pesticide applications in fruit orchards, municipal farms and recreational areas. The programme includes sulfur treatments for vineyards and protective sprays for orchards to safeguard crop yields and public health. Both municipalities emphasise continuous monitoring and community involvement to minimise insect populations during the hot season.
