Turkish municipalities launch free vocational and arts preparation courses

Municipalities across Turkey are offering a range of free or low‑cost courses aimed at skill development and exam preparation. Düzce Municipality’s BELMEK program provides cooking and practical workshops for women, emphasizing hands‑on learning and social interaction.

Melikgazi Municipality in Kayseri has opened a two‑month intensive art‑preparation course for students targeting fine‑arts high schools and university faculties. The programme, limited to a small number of participants and fee‑based, accepts applications until 3 July. Mayor Doç. Dr. Mustafa Palancıoğlu said, “Education, art and culture investments continue without slowing, and we invite young talent to develop their skills.”

The Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality’s KAMEK initiative runs free summer workshops in the districts of Andırın, Göksun, Elbistan and Çağlayancerit. Courses cover creative drama, traditional crafts, robotics, coding and language studies, with applications open until 5 July.

Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality’s KAYMEK programme offers summer preparation classes for the TYT, LGS and YDS exams. Running from 6 July to mid‑August (and until late September for YDS), the courses are taught by expert instructors and require online registration.

These efforts reflect a broader push by local governments to provide accessible education and cultural training during the summer months.
