Turkish officials face new corruption accusations over CHP congress and foreign ministry

Former Uşak mayor Özkan Yalım testified before prosecutors, claiming he collected wet signatures from 115 delegates and tried to persuade them to support Özgür Özel at the CHP’s 38th ordinary congress. He described offering municipal jobs to delegates’ children and said he communicated directly with party officials, asserting, “DELEGE ÇOCUKLARINI BELEDİYEDE İŞE ALMAMIZI İSTEDİ.”

Opposition Yenilik Party leader Öztürk Yılmaz publicly accused Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of turning the ministry into a commercial enterprise and called for the minister’s immunity to be removed, stating, “Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu’nun dokunulmazlığını kaldır hadi! Yargıya teslim et!” Yılmaz also demanded investigations into alleged irregularities and past police files linked to the case.
