Turkish fire officials warn of forest fire risks and deploy water tankers
Düzce Fire Brigade chief Mehmet Ali Kahraman warned residents that burning garden waste, plastic bottles, glass, and open‑flame picnics can ignite forest fires. He urged people to report waste, compost garden debris, and avoid open fires, noting that the brigade operates 24 hours with 60 personnel and 17 vehicles ready for rapid response.
Mardin Governor Tuncay Akkoyun announced the distribution of 50 pump‑equipped tractor water tankers, each holding about three tonnes of water, to ten districts to strengthen first‑response capabilities against forest fires. The governor also reported the delivery of 30 (last year) and 15 (this year) backpack fire‑extinguishing blowers to the forest service. The ceremony was held at the Mardin Forest Nursery with local officials and muhtars in attendance.
