Turkish Opposition Parties Stage Strasbourg Rallies and Workshops

The Republican People’s Party (CHP) will hold a "Democracy Walk and Solidarity Rally" on 27 June in front of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. CHP deputy group leader Gökhan Günaydın and overseas affairs deputy Nurhayat Altaca Kayışoğlu are slated to speak, emphasizing that “absolute nullity shadows the democratic will.”

At the same time, the Saadet Party organised an "Ortak Akıl Güçlü Toplum Çalıştayı" (Joint‑Intelligence Strong Society Workshop) in Strasbourg. The event was opened by party deputy chairman Sinan Tekin, who said “human dignity and justice are vital for Europe and the world.” Turkish Consul‑General Murat Onart, civil‑society representatives, academics and business leaders attended to discuss social, cultural and economic challenges faced by Turkish‑and‑Muslim communities in Europe, stressing the need for identity protection and social solidarity.
