Turkish pilots begin Eurofighter Typhoon training in the UK

The first two pilots from the Turkish Air Force have arrived at RAF Coningsby in the United Kingdom to begin transition training for the Eurofighter Typhoon. The pilots will join the 29 Squadron, which serves as the Royal Air Force’s operational conversion unit for the aircraft.

The training program is expected to last approximately one year. It consists of a nine-month phase focused on aircraft systems, maintenance, and operational procedures, followed by a three-month instructor training period. Rather than returning to Turkey immediately upon completion, these pilots will remain at RAF Coningsby to serve as instructors until the delivery of Turkey’s new Eurofighter Typhoon fleet begins.

This initiative is part of a broader cooperation involving 10 pilots and approximately 100 technicians. The program aims to establish a sustainable cycle of expertise within the Turkish Air Force and enhance interoperability with NATO allies through advanced combat and tactical training.
