Turkish police arrest 25 suspects in security sweeps across Çanakkale and Kozan
From June 29 to July 6, Turkish police carried out security operations in Çanakkale and Kozan. In Çanakkale, law‑enforcement checks covered 12,049 people and 3,620 vehicles, leading to the arrest of 21 suspects, eight of whom were ordered to be jailed. Authorities seized 270 g of narcotics, 854 drug tablets and three cannabis plants, and issued administrative traffic fines to 415 drivers. A total of 33 suspects faced legal action for drug‑related crimes, theft, and assault.
In the Kozan district of Adana Province, 194 officers conducted checks at 36 locations, arresting four convicted prisoners and one person accused of drug dealing. The operations resulted in the seizure of 0.35 g of narcotics and 22 drug items, the banning of 11 vehicles and ten motorcycles, and administrative fines for 34 motorcyclists. The arrested individuals faced sentences ranging from two to 25 years for drug offences, armed robbery and assault.
