Turkish police conduct raids, arrest dozens, seize drugs, gold and cash
Police and gendarmerie units carried out a series of operations across Turkey in July 2026. In Kırıkkale, four fugitives serving sentences for assault, theft and insult were captured. In Çanakkale, a peace‑operation led to the arrest of 64 suspects charged with crimes ranging from assault to fraud. Bursa police detained seven individuals whose combined sentences total about 61 years for robbery, theft, fraud and drug offences. In Samsun, a fraud scheme that defrauded a woman of roughly 1.5 million TL was uncovered; the suspect was arrested in Çorum and the stolen cash and gold were recovered. Istanbul’s public security chief Selami Yıldız took part in a helicopter‑ and drone‑supported patrol in Esenyurt, where vehicles were stopped and checked. In Şanlıurfa, a gang posing as gendarmerie set up a fake checkpoint, robbed a convoy of 13 kg gold and about 2 million TL, and injured three occupants. Kırıkkale authorities also seized 377 synthetic illegal pills and arrested a suspect in a drug‑trafficking bust. Separate court proceedings in Bursa resulted in the release of 16 of 63 defendants while the remaining accused remain detained.
