Turkish police chiefs prioritize community support and security in new roles

Newly appointed police chiefs in Hatay and Erzurum are emphasizing community support and public service as they begin their respective tenures.

In Hatay, Provincial Police Chief Nihat Özen has requested that instead of sending flowers or gifts to his office to mark his appointment, individuals make donations to the Police Force Duty Disabled Families Assistance and Solidarity Association (EMŞAD). The goal is to provide financial support to the families of martyrs and veterans. EMŞAD expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting the importance of such solidarity for the families of fallen officers.

In Erzurum, Provincial Police Chief Mahmut Ay visited the family of Kubilay Karaman, a police officer killed in the line of duty. Upon assuming his role, Ay stated that his priority is to strengthen the peace and security of Erzurum while maintaining communication with citizens based on mutual trust and respect. He emphasized a commitment to the rule of law and cooperation with local institutions and civil society.
