Turkish police detain 14 suspects in Istanbul terror raids

Turkish security forces have detained 14 individuals in Istanbul suspected of having links to the terrorist organizations Islamic State and Al Qaeda. The arrests were part of a series of operations conducted across various locations in the city.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the suspects, some of whom face accusations of financing terrorist groups. According to police statements, the individuals showed affinity for these organizations through social media posts promoting terrorism. Officials warned that the suspects had allegedly planned attacks on Turkish soil.

This crackdown is part of an increase in domestic counter-terrorism operations by Turkey aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and their financing channels. While the Islamic State's territorial caliphate was defeated in Iraq and Syria years ago, active cells continue to pose a security threat.
