Turkish police crack down on organized crime and fraud networks
Turkish law enforcement has conducted major operations against organized crime and fraud networks. In a coordinated effort led by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, police targeted the ‘Yıkamacılar’ armed criminal organization across 11 provinces, including Adana, Istanbul, and Izmir. Following a 16-month investigation, 102 suspects were detained during dawn raids on 120 addresses. The group, allegedly led by Tolga Hoşgökdelen, is accused of 32 different crimes, including attempted murder, drug trafficking, and armed threats. Authorities seized various weapons, narcotics, and requested the seizure of assets worth approximately 27.8 million TL.
Separately, the Ankara Police Department dismantled multiple fraud networks responsible for a total of 90 million TL in illicit gains. These operations targeted three distinct schemes: individuals impersonating high-level public officials, a medical device investment scam, and an international fraud ring using fake invoices to exploit Algerian courts. A total of 12 suspects were arrested in connection with these fraudulent activities.
