Turkish police seize 1.8 ton raw material enough for 40 million pills in Kocaeli

Police from the Kocaeli Provincial Directorate of Security conducted raids in the Darıca district and nearby Gebze on May 21‑22, 2026. During a midnight operation at a business premises in Darıca, officers recovered 1 ton 80 kg of raw material capable of producing around 40 million illicit pills, along with 161 kg of pill capsules packed in 14 cartons.

Earlier sweeps in the same area had yielded an additional 1.7 million synthetic pills, 264 kg of raw material sufficient for three million more pills, and 19 production machines. Nine suspects were detained, with one person placed under arrest.

The bust represents one of the largest drug‑manufacturing seizures in Turkey, aiming to disrupt a sizable illegal pharmaceutical production network.
