Turkey police seize over 3.5 tonnes of drugs in multiple operations

Police and gendarmerie units in Turkey carried out a series of large‑scale drug busts in June 2026.

In Istanbul, coordinated raids in four provinces resulted in 110 arrests and the seizure of about 1 ton 285 kg of narcotics, including 848 kg of methamphetamine, 416 kg of skunk cannabis, 20 kg of cocaine, 60 000 synthetic pills and related chemicals.

In İzmir’s Seferihisar district, a joint operation by the interior ministry, police and coast‑guard intercepted a boat from Greece that was carrying 764 kg of skunk cannabis; three suspects, two of them foreign nationals, were detained.

A simultaneous bust in Eskişehir uncovered more than 21 000 synthetic ecstasy tablets, 1 kg of methamphetamine, 250 g of synthetic cannabinoids, 52 g of marijuana, 1 g of cocaine and other substances, leading to ten arrests among sixteen suspects.

At the İpsala border checkpoint, customs agents stopped a truck bound for Greece that concealed 1 ton 470 kg of methamphetamine, heroin and opium gum; the Iranian driver was arrested and the haul, valued at over 3 billion Turkish lira, was confiscated.

In Beykoz, Istanbul, police seized 524.6 g of marijuana from two vehicles and linked a “safe house” where an additional 504.6 g was found; two suspects were jailed and two placed under judicial control.
