Turkish political parties weigh new election alliances

Political discussions in Ankara are intensifying regarding potential new alliances ahead of upcoming elections. Various scenarios are being debated, including a possible bloc consisting of the Yeniden Refah, DEVA, and Saadet parties.

There are also rumors of a nationalist alliance involving the Zafer, Milli Yol, Independent Turkey (BTP), Kutlu, and Anahtar parties. Recently, leaders from five of these parties met in Ankara, fueling speculation about a unified nationalist front. Remzi Çayır, leader of the Milli Yol Party, has indicated that such an alliance is a possibility.

In contrast, the İYİ Parti has reportedly maintained a distance from these potential coalitions. While not entirely closing the door on cooperation, İYİ Parti sources have expressed opposition to “alliance impositions.” Party officials noted that several of the parties mentioned in nationalist alliance rumors were formed by individuals who left İYİ Parti, suggesting that if they truly seek unity, they should join İYİ Parti directly rather than forming separate blocs.

Additionally, shifts are occurring within the Yeni Yol Group in Parliament, which includes the DEVA, Gelecek, and Saadet parties. Following the departure of a member to the AKP, the group's numbers fell below the threshold required to form a parliamentary group, prompting the CHP to intervene by including one of its deputies in the group.
