Turkish Red Crescent and German Red Cross hold RISE Project workshop

The Turkish Red Crescent and the German Red Cross are holding a three-day evaluation workshop in Nevşehir from August 26 to 28, 2026, regarding the Disaster Risk Reduction (RISE) Project. This initiative is being carried out through the technical and financial cooperation of both organizations.

The project focuses on several key areas, including community and school-based disaster risk reduction, institutional capacity building, predictive action, climate change adaptation, and increasing risk awareness. The workshop aims to evaluate current applications, share field experiences, and establish a roadmap for future activities.

Participants include field personnel from seven Disaster Response Centers where the project is implemented, representatives from the Turkish Red Crescent General Headquarters, and representatives from the German Red Cross. Ercan Civelek, President of the Turkish Red Crescent Nevşehir Provincial Center, emphasized that disaster risk reduction must extend beyond immediate response to include pre-disaster preparation and community awareness.
